25. Doug Martin

I see a lot of people perhaps pushing Martin down compared to last year of course, as many years he diss-appoints sometimes due to injury and sometimes not.. With Martin you have to be patient, and wait for the big game, but from my experience he gets you a lot of consistency in points from week to week. However this year, he not only has the same backups along with 3rd down catching back Charles Sims, but also has Jeremy McNichols who has a nice workload of experience running at the college level and is somewhat similar in ability to the Boise state player of the same college in Martin.

24. Mike Gillislee

While Gillislee has some nice upside as a young potential starter on this championship level offense, this will be the highest ranked player on this team as you CANNOT rely on this team to give you a 25 touches per game, especially with guys that have had injuries last year, as well as a lot of competition for the same position(s) as this team definitely does. With the breakout sort of year he had backing up Shady McCoy, he could have found a better place to go in terms of fantasy.

23. Eddie Lacey

This next group of guys, specifically the next four, you could throw up and put in any order if you’d like, based on various production potential this year. Lacey has the ability as well as the opportunity to be featured as a free agent on a new team. Lacey could show some of that explosiveness he had as a rookie, but when he loses production or worse, never gains traction, he will have others behind him ready to step in, and they are good as well.

22. Tevin Coleman

With the ability to be a valuable starting back in the league in all facets of the game in the NFL, Coleman’s only issue is the injuries that have slowed him down during his 2 years in the league so far. This guy can do everything the team asks of him with definite EXPLOSIVENESS. Any time he dis-spells Freeman, he go go the distance for a TD any time.

21. Ty Montgomery

While Ty was meant to be a WR, he has proven to be the overall swiss army knife and will apparently get some starts at RB and may be eligible at WR again which is great. Kinda like fantasy baseball players at multiple positions making up for weak spots in your lineups. Gotta love it.

20. Marshawn Lynch

While Lynch’s scenario is very different from any of these backs, he has the traction for the #1 back in LA, or Las Vegas, whichever applies to re-capture beast mode once again. 1 year off won’t make much difference for a great player like this right. I hope not.

19. Carlos Hyde

Hyde is quickly losing ground in this new offense, not fitting in well, and not practicing well according to reports. He also gets injured frequently. So why is he this high still? Really, because no one is very exciting to see on this 49ers running back squad other than Hyde. Tim Hightower is old and Joe Williams does not seem like a 20 carry per back like Hyde is. Another team would be a better fit for Hyde.

18. CJ Anderson

Ah, the Denver backfield with CJ, what to do with it? With a very crowded backfield now with Jamall Charles back there, keep tabs at all times on him and Devonte Booker. Even the rookie, they picked up D. Henderson is not bad, putting up good combine numbers. Anderson is still the #1 guy on what I would say is still a questionable offensive line, that should be better

17. Ameer Abdullah

While Theo Riddick is always a decent option in PPR leagues as a low cost sleeper, Abdullah has a lot to prove as the #1 guy and is being given the opportunity to do so. Matt Asiata was brought in and could get some goal line looks but I would say that will not affect Abdullah in this passing offense, that hopefully Abdullah can ride breaking some big runs that he is supposed to be brought in for on 1st and 2nd downs.

16. Mark Ingram

Ingram still has firm grasp on the #1 back spot despite the other bodies being brought in, veteran and rookie. Only difference is if Ingram messes up this time, and someone else performs such as Peterson, or Alvin Kamara, he may not get his job back if someone breaks out. Keep tabs on the guys when/if you draft Ingram this year.
